My partner, Robert, is a Wall Street Journal, junkie and one day he read about a password management program called Roboform. I tried it and liked it to. Essentially here is what it does – Roboform remembers passwords according to the URL of the site you visit. It can automatically enter passwords for you or wait for your prompt.

When you go to a new site it already has all your personal information and you can decide to enter all required information with a single click. No more typing My Name, 123 Main Street, My Town, My State, My Zip.

It allows you to create personalities for your identities. Here is how I use them: I created my main identity that has all my real info and credit card for when I want to make purchases. I created a “subscribe to” identity when I go to a forum or newsletter. Under this “subscribe to” identity I might use a hotmail or gmail default and my phone number might be 999-999-9999. This way I can fill in all the blanks and get the information I need from a site that I am not totally ready to commit to.
